File Formats

Artwork File Specification:

Formats: Artwork for print jobs can be either PC or Mac and ideally submitted in either ;

  • CorelDraw 14 or earlier (.cdr)
  • Adobe Illustrator (.ai) CS3 or earlier 
  • Editable .EPS
  • Adobe Acrobat (editable .PDF)
  • Indesign CS3 (.ind)
  • QuarkXpress 6.5 (.qxd)

Artwork should be supplied as a vector graphic, as unlike a picture file (jpg, Tif, bmp etc) it is not resolution dependant and will give a better printed result.

Artworks should include 2mm bleed and crop marks and you should include all fonts used or convert fonts to Paths / Curves.

files supplied from DTP applications should be exported for publication (i.e. print ready pdf)  as missing plugins can quite often cause problems

Vector files should ideally be specified as Pantone Spot Colours.

Wherever possible Technical Products should be accompanied by a fully dimensioned drawing. Ideally any Drawings should be supplied in either.Dxf or .DWG 2004 Format.

Logos:

Should be submitted in vector based format or editable EPS at correct size,.

Photographic Images:

Should be provided ideally as PSD format at finished size with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi preferably in layers, or failing that .jpg or .tiff

Linked Elements

Pictures or Vector images for links must be provided in a folder named 'images' or 'pictures'.

Screen Printed  Vs Digital images

Screen Process is excellent for large solid flat colours. For four colour / halftone images resolution may be limited to around 75dpi (Dots per square inch)

The Digital Process produces excellent four colour work, but there may be limitations on large areas of flat colour.

Additional Cost

Failure to supply artwork to the above specification may incur extra artwork charges in order to be made print ready.
